Navy Striped Kids Tee | Vintage Inspired 1950s Tee
The Navy Striped Tee debuted at my booth at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender Car Show in 2013 and was one of the first garments I developed completely from scratch for Lil' Lou Lou. Inspired by the classic boys' tees of the 1950s and the rockabilly song "Blue Jeans and a Boy's Shirt" by Glen Glenn, I wanted to create a striped tee that captured vintage style while remaining comfortable and easy to wear.
Rather than starting with a blank tee, I worked with a professional pattern maker to develop an original Lil' Lou Lou children's tee pattern that was professionally graded for sizing. Made in California using striped knit fabric, the design was created to pair easily with jeans, shorts, and everyday vintage-inspired outfits.
More than a decade later, the Navy Striped Tee remains one of my favorite original Lil' Lou Lou designs. With its vintage-inspired silhouette and classic striped fabric, it was made for little ones who love car shows, rockabilly events, and everyday adventures. I still wear my original size 7/8 sample today, a reminder of how timeless this simple striped tee has remained.
